The End of the Trek [Moving Forward on the Yukon Trek]

Wrapping up this blog is almost a little difficult, as I really did enjoy sharing my love of animals with readers this semester.  I was not only able to blog about current activities i was able to spend with animals, along with learning opportunities I was given as I study veterinary medicine, but also share my past experiences with animals and and more specifically my pets. Throughout the semester I posted about events I was a part of here at Penn State, on campus in clubs, activities I participated in off campus, and other experiences I have had with animals.

These posts included blogs about history with animals and my personal pets.  This especially included the event with my very own German Shepherd, Yukon, who made me decide for sure that I was going to become a veterinarian.  He developed a degenerative disease and no matter what veterinarians we visited or what tests he took, there was no cure to save him and eventually my family and I just watched his body deteriorate until we lost him.  I shared this story on my blog because I felt it is a huge reason why I want to become a veterinarian and also thought it would help my readers understand my passion for animals.

I also blogged about the two events I took part in, within two of the animal clubs I am a part of here at Penn State.  First, I shared my experience on the first Pet Meet and Greet the Small and Exotic Animal Club (SEAC).  This is when I went with a select few members of the club to a nursing home with dogs, cats and even a bunny to visit with the elderly.  I wanted to share this experience because of the cheer brought to them and the memories they shared with us students.  I also wrote about he Horse Barn Open House I volunteered at with the Penn State Equine Research Team (PSERT).  At this event we had the Penn State Horse Barns open to the public on game day with multiple horses for people to visit with.  This was extremely successful and as a volunteer and member of the club I was able to interact with both the visitors and the horses, introducing the public to the four-legged creatures and sharing information of these horses with the public.  The children especially liked this.

These reflections do not include all my posts but I know those of you who read my blog regularly are well aware of the other experiences I have.  I greatly appreciate those who read my blogs and especially those who comment on them.  I love sharing my experiences with you all and want to thank you all.
